In this study, a solution to one-dimensional vertical airflow induced by the time-dependent atmospheric pressure fluctuations is developed in a three-layer unsaturated zone. The discrete atmospheric pressure data are transformed into a continuous boundary condition using the Fourier series analysis. The solution is applied to interpret the field air pressure data in a three-layer unsaturated zone reported in previous studies. The new solution improves the previous solution by reducing the required data measurement and input. The new solution is found to be accurate enough for the purpose of this study by comparing with a numerical solution developed in COMSOL Multiphysics. Given the necessary hydrogeological parameters, the new solution is capable of calculating the air permeability of each layer above a specified depth where the air pressures are known. Sensitivity analysis of the new solution shows that location, thickness, and air permeability of the less permeable layer impose large influence on the propagation of the atmospheric pressure fluctuations. Variations of air-filled porosity in soil layers in/below the less permeable layer may lead to greater amplitude attenuation and phase lag of air pressure than those in soil layers above the less permeable layer. 相似文献

In this study, we developed a novel ultrasound-assisted electrocatalytic oxidation (US–EO) process to decolorize azo dyes in aqueous solution. Rhodamine B was decolorized completely within several minutes in this developed US–EO system. Oxidation parameters such as applied potentials, power of the ultrasound, initial pH of the solution, and initial concentration of RhB were systematically studied and optimized. An obvious synergistic effect was found in decolorization of RhB by the US–EO process when comparing with either ultrasound (US) process or electrocatalytic oxidation (EO) one. Additionally, the decolorization of other azo dyes, such as methylene blue, reactive brilliant red X-3B, and methyl orange, were also effective in the US–EO system. The results indicated that US–EO system was effective for the decolorization of azo dyes, suggesting its great potential in dyeing wastewater treatment. 相似文献

A fairly large family of asymptotic elastodynamic homogenization methods is shown to be derivable from Willis exact elastodynamic homogenization theory for periodic media under appropriate approximation assumptions about, for example, frequencies, wavelengths and phase contrast. In light of this result, two long-wavelength and low-frequency asymptotic elastodynamic approaches are carefully analyzed and compared in connection with higher-order strain-gradient media. In particular, these approaches are proved to be unable to capture, at least in the one-dimensional setting, the optical branches of the dispersion curve. This work reports on a method for the accurate determination of kinetic swelling behavior and properties of superabsorbent polymers by a tracer-assisted on-line spectroscopic measurement. Based on monitoring the spectral absorption of a tracer compound (blue dextran 2000) at 610 nm in a superabsorbent polymer containing solution, the swelling (water absorption) of the polymer during the process can be followed, from which the parameters in a kinetic equation can be obtained. The results showed that the data obtained by the present method has a good measurement precision and accuracy, in which the relative differences were less than 4.0% when comparing the data measured by a reference method (i.e., the tea bag method). Since the present method can perform an on-line measurement, it is much superior to the current tea bag method and therefore is very suitable to be used in the process related study for the swelling behavior of superabsorbent polymers in many applications. 相似文献

A novel optical extensometer is developed to estimate the local uniform strain on planar surface accurately. The proposed system consists of a shared large format lens and two image sensors, which acquire pairs of images of two isolated small regions on the object surface simultaneously. Digital image correlation (DIC) algorithm is applied to determine the relative displacement between gauge points designated on recorded pairs of images. Then local strain can be extracted after dividing the relative displacement by the scale distance. Moreover, a special experimental setup called “correction sheet” is used to eliminate the virtual strain induced by out-of-plane motions. Uni-axial tensile experiments are performed to validate the reliability and resolution of the optical extensometer, and the measurement results demonstrate that the resolution of the optical extensometer achieves 2–3 με. 相似文献

AbstractIn this work, an effective method was developed to prepare novel PEO-b-PPO-b-PEO (EPE)/α-cyclodextrin (α-CD) supramolecular hydrogels containing exfoliated graphite nanoplates (xGNPs) by mixing an aqueous solution of α-CD with an aqueous dispersion of xGNPs at the presence of amphiphilic EPE copolymer. The EPE copolymer played three important roles in the preparation process: (1) as an exfoliating agent to break expanded graphites into xGNPs under ultrasonication, (2) as a dispersant to stabilize xGNPs in the aqueous solution, and (3)as a component to form the inclusion complexes with α-CD. The resultant xGNPs/EPE/α-CD hybridized hydrogels were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, wide-angle X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, which confirmed not only the formation of supramolecular hydrogel structure but also the homogenous dispersion of xGNPs in the hydrogel matrix. It was found that the existence of xGNPs can accelerate the speed of gel formation in comparison with that of the native EPE/α-CD hydrogel. Additionally, the water-retention ability and the release behavior of vancomycin hydrochloride for the xGNPs/EPE/α-CD hybridized hydrogels were investigated. 相似文献

Stabilized mesoporous TiO2 was synthesized by evaporation induced self assembly (EISA) method and mechanically incorporated into single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) with different ratios. The physicochemical properties of the nanocomposites (mesoporous TiO2/SWCNT) materials were investigated by Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) measurement, X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), photoluminescence (PL) and ultraviolet–visible (UV–Vis) spectroscopy measurements. Infrared and Raman spectra of cubic magnesium caesium phosphate hexahydrate, MgCsPO4·6H2O (cF100), and its partially deuterated analogues were analyzed and compared to the previously studied spectra of the hexagonal analogue, MgCsPO4·6H2O (hP50). The vibrational spectra of the cubic and hexagonal dimorphic analogues are similar, especially in the regions of HOH stretching and bending vibrations. In the difference IR spectrum of the slightly deuterated analogue (<5% D), one distinctive band appears at 2260 cm−1 with a small shoulder at around 2170 cm−1, but only one band is expected in the region of the OD stretchings of isotopically isolated HDO molecules. The small weak band could possibly result from second-order transitions (a combination of HDO bending and some libration of the same species) rather than statistical disorder of the water molecules. By comparing the IR spectra in the region of external vibrations of water molecules of the protiated compound recorded at RT (room temperature) and at LNT (liquid nitrogen temperature) and those in the series of the partially deuterated analogues, it can be stated with certainty that the bands at 924 and 817 cm−1 result from librations of water molecules, rocking and wagging respectively. And the band at 429 cm−1 can be safely attributed to a stretching Mg–Ow mode. In the ν3(PO4) and ν4(PO4) region in the infrared spectra, one band in each is observed, at 995 and 559 cm−1, respectively. In the region of the ν1 modes, in the Raman spectrum of the protiated compound, one very intense band was observed at 930 cm−1 which is only insignificantly shifted to 929 cm−1 in the spectrum of the perdeuterated compound. The band at 379 cm−1 in the Raman spectrum could be assigned to the ν2(PO4) modes. With respect to the phosphate ion vibrations, the comparison between the two polymorphic forms of MgCsPO4·6H2O and their deuterated compounds shows that ν1(PO4) and ν3(PO4) appear at lower wavenumbers in the cubic phase than in the hexagonal phase. These data are in full agreement with the lower repulsion potential at the cubic lattice sites compared with that for the hexagonal lattice sites. 相似文献

The activity concentrations and absorbed gamma dose of primordial radionuclides 238U, 232Th and 40K were determined employing γ-ray spectrometry in 31 soil samples from the land area earmarked for house construction in Perambalur district and 14 rock samples from quarries that supply stones for the entire district. The soil samples registered relatively a higher mean value of 13.2 Bq kg?1 for 238U, 66 Bq kg?1 for 232Th and 340.3 Bq kg?1 for 40K as compared to mean values for rock samples (238U—8.0 Bq kg?1; 232Th—65.1 Bq kg?1; 40K—199.1 Bq kg?1). The mean absorbed gamma dose rate for soil (61.4 nGy h?1) marginally exceeded the prescribed limit of 55 nGy h?1 while, rocks registered the mean absorbed gamma dose rate of 10.4 nGy h?1. The mean radium equivalent activity was distinctly higher in soil (130.6 Bq kg?1) than in rock (20.0 Bq kg?1). However, these values were lower than the limit (370 Bq kg?1) set by OECD for building materials. It is evident from the data that the soil and rocks do not pose any radiological risk for house constructions in Perambalur district. 相似文献
